Stoja Drljaca passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on July 7th 2026 at the age of 89, in Griffith Indiana.
Born on April 15. 1937 in Rujiska, Novi Grad, Republika Srpska, Bosna, where she grew up amongst three brothers and many cousins in the same household.
She married the love of her life Vojislav (Vojo) Drljaca, and became the mother of two beautiful sons and the real life adventure began.
She will be remembered for:
* her generosity,
* youthful free spirit, full of ideas and always creating something new,
* love of life and everyone that came into her life,
* always giving and not asking for much,
* selfless love toward all,
* her captivating smile,
* her kindness, sense of humor and storytelling,
* loved to socialize, travel and take pictures,
* her modesty and righteous living,
* above all cherished family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Vojislav Drljaca, her parents Gligo Gakovic and Bosiljka Gakovic (nee Cica), her brothers Jovan and Nikola.
She is survived by her two loving sons Dusko (Jelena) Drljaca and Zdravko Drljaca; her three cherished grandchildren Nikola, Vojkan, Yana (Vasilis) and great-grandson Filippos and brother Marinko.
Opelo (Funeral Servce) will be held on July 15th, 2026, at 9 AM at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville Indiana, with V. Rev. Marko Matić officiating. Interment at New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery,
35240 W. Grant Ave. Third Lake, IL 60046.
Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Stoja’s life.
