Mary (Strimbu) Breaz, 95, of Crown Point, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at her home. She was born on December 29, 1930, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Thomas and Sylvia (Cosgary) Strimbu. 

Mary is survived by her children, Jean Gornal, Michael (Luce) Breaz, and Rebecca (James) Brumm; grandchildren, Monica (Daniel) Burke, Mariann (Andrew) Gallegos, Matthew Gornal, Amanda Brumm, and Meagan Brumm; great-grandchildren, Ireland Burke and Ashton Gallegos; beloved cat, Cooper; and a loving host of extended family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Breaz; son, David Breaz; brothers, George (Eleanor) Strimbu, and Thomas (Violet) Strimbu; and son-in-law, Patrick Gornal.  

Mary was a proud graduate of Froebel High School in Gary, Indiana. She went on to be a homemaker and caregiver to her family, creating many loving memories along the way. Mary also had a special place in her heart for animals, having many of her own furry friends throughout her life. Most notably, her greatest joy in life was creating oil paintings and sharing them with others to enjoy and her joy for Christmas. 

Mary will be remembered as a loving, generous, and happy Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend who will be dearly missed. 

Services for Mary will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow funeral services at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W. 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, IN 46410.
