Harold Franklin Scott, 86, of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1940, in Gary, to the late Rollie Franklin and Ethel G. (Scarborough) Scott.
Harold is survived by his children, Patricia Devine, Kimberly (Jack) Basich, Rick (Karen) Scott, and Mark Scott; step-children, Nancie (Mike) Maslyar, and Beth Curtis; grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Albers, Brooke (Brian) Dowden, Gilbert Villarruel, Alice Wozniak, Mack Wozniak, Rebecca Scott, and Emily Basich; step-grandchildren, Jess (Jason) Malkin, Ashley (Renee) McCovey, and Christopher McCarrol; great-grandchildren, Gage Albers, Bryce Dowden, Brielle Dowden, and Brady Dowden; step-great-grandchildren, Rebecca Kendrick, Ryan Kendrick, Jade McCovey, and Jamison McCarrol; cousin, Lee Scott; and a loving host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his spouse, Veronica “Roni” Glazier.
Harold worked for Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co. for over 20 years until his retirement.
Harold was a major racecar fan. Whether it was watching races or even building and detailing cars, the sport brought much joy into his life. He was also a bass and tuba player, involving himself in many bands over the years such as Bob Minick’s Continental Orchestra. Harold also dabbled in other hobbies throughout his life such as fishing, woodworking, and watching football and basketball games.
Harold, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by all.
In accordance with Harold’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and a private burial will be held at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with Harold’s arrangements.
