Marie Arleen (Bryan) Ard, 81, of Portage, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with her daughter by her side. She was born on June 3, 1944, in Gary, to the late Arthur Lewis and Charlotte Vina Marie (Darding) Bryan. 

Marie is survived by her daughter, Erika Hoffman; grandsons, David Thompson, and Jeremy Thompson; siblings, Bob (Robin) Bryan, David Bryan, Richard (Debbie) Bryan, Mike Bryan, Ruth (Tom) Ampelitious, Laura (Gary) Roberson, and Cheryl (Don) Bryan; niece, Alisa (David) Riffey; family friend, Sharon (Derek) Kovats; and a loving host of extended family and friends. 

Marie proudly worked for Inland Steel for over 48 years, retiring in 2020 after years of faithful service. She was also a member at the former Christ Community Church in Hobart for over 20 years. 

In her spare time, Marie could be found watching television shows or reading her Bible. 

Marie will best be remembered as a kind-hearted, funny, and faithful woman who never met a stranger throughout life and always had a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed by all. 

In accordance with Marie’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with Marie’s arrangements.
