Vileda Jane (Connolly) Maloy, 96, of the Crown Point and Winfield area, entered eternal rest on April 25, 2026.

Vileda was the loving wife of Peter Maloy; mother of Mary Callaghan, Lynn Harsy, Michael Maloy, Robert (Denise) Maloy, Patricia Wright, and Eileen (Dan) Kachaturoff; grandmother of Naomi DeFalco, Caleb Harsy, Claire Rhoads, Laura Boswell, Rachel Maloy, Ashley Wright, Kendall Nowakowski, and Dylan Kachaturoff; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Vileda, lovingly nicknamed “Valeers” by her mother, was born on July 9, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the only child of Edith and Robert Connolly.

Vileda was a devout Catholic and loved going to church! She attended Catholic High School and Women’s Catholic College Mundelein in Chicago. In addition to raising her six children, she was also a middle school teacher and later worked for Centier Bank.

Vileda’s hobbies included Bridge, Keenagers, Garden Club, pontooning at their lake house in Lakes of the Four Seasons, and taking their family and friends to her beloved timeshare in Mexico!

Vileda traveled many places with her husband, Pete, whom she also called Mike. There were many adventures shared between the couple. There were also many family gatherings and fun with all her family and friends. Everyone loved her because she was sweet, kind, and smart.

Pete and Vileda would have been married 75 years this July along with Videla reaching her 97th birthday!

She lived a long, busy, fun-filled life and will be greatly missed.

Services for Vileda will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and a funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow services at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
