Jimmy Dorsey Clark

1951

2026

Jimmy Dorsey Clark, 74, of Merrillville, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus. He was born on May 22, 1951, in Gary, to the late Dossie Jr. and Janie (White) Clark.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Tamika Clark; brother, Frank (Marcia) Clark; sisters, Geraldine Cooper, and Sheila Clark; sister-in-law, Pamela Clark; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Howard Clark, and brother-in-law, BeBe Cooper.

Jimmy built a long and steady career in both welding and switchman work, contributing his skills to several workplaces over the years. He especially cherished his time with the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway, a role he held decades ago and remembered with pride.

In his spare time, Jimmy could be found playing card games, listening to music, or cheering on various sports teams. Most importantly, family was everything to Jimmy and he loved being a part of family gatherings and celebrations.

Jimmy will best be remembered for his legendary one-liner jokes and hilarious attitude, along with being a loving father, brother, uncle, and cousin. He will be deeply missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.

Jimmy’s family will be hosting a memorial celebration in his honor on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at The Chateau Banquets Center, 530 West 61st Avenue, Merrillville, IN 46410, from 1 PM to 3 PM.

To know my Uncle Jimmy is to love my Uncle and he will be truly missed. He taught every kid how to tie their shoes but most importantly expressed how much he loved you every chance he saw you or talk to you on the phone. Much love to the greatest and to my big cousin who I was always attached to during my childhood lol I love you and will be praying for you
