JoAnn Johnson (Thomas) passed away on December 21, 2025. She was born August 31, 1949 in Gary, IN to Homer & Artilla Thomas. JoAnn was a 1968 Graduate of Roosevelt High School. She was married for 47 years to the love of her life, Nathaniel Johnson, Jr., who predeceased her in 2018. She was also predeceased by her son, Robert Johnson; sister, Phyllis Briner; and brothers, Jerome, Frederick, and Clifford Thomas. 

JoAnn was an avid reader. She also loved growing and nurturing plants and flowers. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Nathaniel Johnson III (Sonya), Minneapolis, MN; sister, Yvette Thomas, Gary, IN; and brother, Homer Thomas (Thelma), Cedartown, GA. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Calumet Park Cemetery, 73rd Avenue & Taft Street, Merrillville, IN.
