Ivan Vusak, 82, of Munster, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Community Hospital of Munster. He was born on January 16, 1943, in Recica, Croatia, to the late Josip and Jela Vusak.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife, Marica (nee Markovic) Vusak; children, Joseph and Suzan Vusak; grandchildren, Carter Joseph, Yelena, Jessenia, Nicole Marie, and Darian Alexa; sister, Marica Acevske; sister-in-law, Barica Vusak; best friend, Ranko Pemac; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Marie; brother, Janko Vusak; sister, Barica Paragina; and brothers-in-law, Aco Acevske, and Bozo Paragina.
Before moving to the states, Ivan was enlisted in the Yugoslavian Army. Once stateside, he worked as a metallurgist for Arcelor-Mittal Steel Mill (now known as Cleveland-Cliffs Steel) for over 45 years. Ivan and his wife, Marica, are also parishioners of St. Thomas More Church in Munster, and have been for over 40 years.
In his spare time, Ivan could be found playing card games with his beloved best friend, Ranko. He will be best remembered as a hardworking and tough-loving provider for his family. Ivan will be dearly missed.
Services for Ivan will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 9 AM to 12 PM, and a funeral service to immediately follow at 12 PM. Burial and graveside services will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
