Sandra Lee Morgan, known lovingly to all as Sandy, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, just two days after her 79th birthday. She was surrounded by the enduring love of her family. Sandy’s life, a beautiful testament to kindness, unwavering dedication, and radiant joy, leaves behind a legacy of countless lives she touched and enriched.
Born on December 2, 1946, Sandy was raised in Portage, Indiana, where she developed the grace and resilience that defined her spirit. She built a remarkable life of service in Lowell, Indiana, first influencing generations of children through her career in the Lowell public school system. Later, she embraced the role of Director of the Lowell Public Library, where her vision brought positive initiatives and programs to life, cementing the library as a vibrant hub of learning and connection for the entire community. Even in retirement, while living in Demotte and later Valparaiso, she carried with her the deep warmth and generosity that was her hallmark.
Sandy shared a beautiful and loving life with her devoted husband, Frank Morgan. Together, they nurtured and raised two cherished sons, Scott (Mindy) and Mike (Amy).
Sandy’s greatest joy and deepest pride was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was the proud and loving “Grandma” to Scott’s children—Zackree, Konnor, and Kenzee—and to Mike’s children—RaeAnna (Kurt Oswalt), Megan, and Nick. Her heart swelled with happiness at the presence of her great-grandson, Owen, RaeAnna and Kurt’s son. She is also survived by her brother, Colonel James Ireland, who shared in her life’s journey and family bonds.
Her legacy is not just one of service, but of profound love and infectious laughter. Sandy will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her complete devotion to her family, and her enduring commitment to the power of education and community. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless friends, colleagues, and students who were profoundly inspired by her compassion and dedication.
