Pamela (Sue) St.Martin
August 29, 1955 – October 23, 2025

Pamela (Sue) St.Martin passed on October 23rd after a long and strong battle with cancer for almost five years. She was born in Hartford, Kentucky at Goode Clinic-Hospital on August 29th, 1955. Daughter to Logan (LC) Babbitt and Martha Mae (Baird) Babbitt and she was their third born of seven children. She lived her life mostly in Indiana after moving from Kentucky. Sue attended Kindergarten and First grade in East Chicago and Schererville public schools starting in the third period of her first grade year in early 1962. Throughout her life she was well known for her shopping and searching for deals any chance she’d get. This hobby started at a very early age in Sue’s life. When she was in grade school, she heard her mom and her Aunt Lanev saying they were going shopping that day, so she snuck out of school to walk home so that she could go shopping with them. Sue was part of the graduating class from Lake Central High School in 1973. She was known by her teachers to be a diligent worker, worked independently, quietly and was always pleasant and happy. She had a good sense of humor and was a voice in her class discussions.

Sue married Gordon St.Martin on April 27th, 1985. They both needed to attend marriage compatibility training before getting married which also led Sue to be baptized in November of 1984 and have her Confirmation in March of 1985 at Our Lady of Grace in Highland. They share three sons Jeffrey, Gregory, and Nicholas. Sue worked as a loan officer at the Bank of Highland/Sand Ridge Bank/First Financial Bank. Sue also really enjoyed watching not only her own children but all children of family and friends. Her love for children was clear and could be seen by anyone at anytime a child was around as Sue’s attention would be devoted to talking in baby babbles to holding them or playing with them any chance she got.

Sue loved her vacations to Kentucky to visit her parents with Gordon and the boys where they would all enjoy fishing, farming, gardening, and quality time together on the vast country property. Later in her life she grew to really love bird watching with Gordon at their home in Lowell, Indiana. Bird watching for these two love birds was more than just a hobby it became a daily activity, between the numerous feeders and bird houses they maintained to the spotting scopes and cameras they used to see every bird and each exciting moment.

If you looked up the definition of SELFLESS you would see her name. Sue was always caring for everyone else’s needs and never wanted anyone to fuss over her own. Anytime her boys called home and needed anything she would stop what she was doing and take care of it, even if it was to see if there was any fresh socks in the top drawer. She had the best laugh ever! And was always fun loving and full of life! Sue will always be remembered by all who loved her.

Sue is survived by husband Gordon, son Jeffrey, son Gregory, son Nicholas. She is also survived by siblings Judy (Chuck) Wirtz, Michael Babbitt, Steve (Kathy) Babbitt, Betty (Tom) Mateja, Kathy (Mike) Vandergast, Charles Babbitt (Nancy). Sue was also Aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well as Auntie to all she cared for.
Proceeded in death by her parents Logan and Martha Babbitt, and grandparents Hiram L. and Blanche (Fielden) Babbitt, Clay A. and Ethel (Richeson) Baird.

A service will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, beginning at 9 o’clock am central standard time located at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, 8303 W Taft St, Merrillville, IN 46410 with Fr. Ted Mauch officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
