Roger Allen Held, 77, of Crown Point IN, passed on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on December 29, 1947, to the late Alois & Elsie Held. On July 26, 1969, Roger married Janice Gail McFalls. They spent 55 years together before her passing on April 7, 2025.
Roger is survived by Laura & Robert Morrison, Wayne & Angela Held, and Amanda Rhodes; grandchildren, CoriAnn Rhodes, Travis Held, Mallory Morrison, and Joshua Held.
Roger was a graduate of Merrillville H.S. (Class of 1966) and worked at U.S. Steel for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He also worked at Sears automotive from ‘74-‘89 and enjoyed a retirement job at The Supervisors Club maintaining the golf course.
In his spare time, Roger loved woodworking, gardening, golfing, and the great outdoors.
Roger was a very kind and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and coworker to many. He will be missed by all family and friends whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
Services for Roger will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 370 N. County Line Rd., Hobart, IN 46342, with a gathering of family and friends from 2 PM to 6 PM. Cremation will follow services.

you And Janice together again
I have only known Roger for less than two years since we moved in next to him and Janice. I would look out my patio doors in the morning and many times see him walking their dog in all weather conditions. Most times, we met and conversed while he was out and about on his walks. Roger was one hard-working, independent guy who was always willing to help a neighbor. Roger was a straight shooter, with a somewhat stoic sarcasm. Praying God will comfort your family and demonstrate His Love and Mercy to you all, as He has already demonstrated by giving His Son Jesus, as Savior to us all. 🙏🏼
