Emma Fuentes, 92, of Crown Point, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Merrillville. She was born on November 3, 1932, in Jiquilpan, Mexico, to the late Jesus Paredes Artega and Natalia Villasenor Cortes.

Emma is survived by her son, Arturo Fuentes; grandsons, Arturo Fuentes II, and Gilberto (Martha) Fuentes; great grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, and Marla Fuentes; brother, Javier Paredes; and a loving host of extended family and friends.

Emma was preceded in death by her lifelong love, Gilberto Fuentes, in 1998; her son, Gilberto Fuentes, Jr., in 1986; and siblings, Jesus Paredes, Hector Paredes, Estella Paredes, and Englantina Paredes.

Emma was a proud housewife but did work part-time for Arthur Winer and Jetson Manufacturing as a seamstress. She, along with her son, Arturo, were members of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Merrillville for over 20 years.

Emma was a devout wife, having a fairytale-type love with her husband, Gilberto. The pair would enjoy dancing together and living life side-by-side. It should also be noted that she was a devoted mother figure to her grandsons, Arturo II and Gilberto, whom she raised as her own. She enjoyed continuing this legacy on, having been able to spend every weekend with her great grandchildren, as well.

In Emma’s spare time, she enjoyed swimming in her pool on nice summer days or keeping up with family and friends via social media or phone calls. She even would share various photographs of her and her loved ones online, cherishing each moment and person she knew in her life.

Emma will best be remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She, along with all the love and joy she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.

In accordance with Emma’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.

A Emma le sobreviven su hijo, Arturo Fuentes; sus nietos, Arturo Fuentes II y Gilberto (Martha) Fuentes; sus bisnietos, Travis, Tyler y Marla Fuentes; su hermano, Javier Paredes; y una gran cantidad de familiares y amigos.

A Emma le precedieron en la muerte el amor de toda su vida, Gilberto Fuentes, en 1998; su hijo, Gilberto Fuentes, Jr., en 1986; y hermanos, Jesús Paredes, Héctor Paredes, Estella Paredes y Englantina Paredes.

Emma era una orgullosa ama de casa, pero trabajaba a tiempo parcial como costurera para Arthur Winer y Jetson Manufacturing. Ella y su hijo Arturo fueron miembros de la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación en Merrillville durante más de 20 años.

Emma era una esposa devota, con un amor de cuento de hadas con su esposo, Gilberto. Disfrutaban bailando juntos y viviendo la vida juntos. Cabe destacar también que era una figura materna devota para sus nietos, Arturo II y Gilberto, a quienes crio como hijos. Disfrutaba de continuar este legado, pasando cada fin de semana con sus bisnietos.

En su tiempo libre, Emma disfrutaba nadando en su piscina en los agradables días de verano o manteniéndose en contacto con familiares y amigos por redes sociales o teléfono. Incluso compartía varias fotografías de ella y sus seres queridos en línea, atesorando cada momento y persona que conoció en su vida.

Emma será recordada como una esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana y amiga amorosa y generosa. Ella, junto con todo el amor y la alegría que compartió, será profundamente extrañada por aquellos cuyos corazones tocó a lo largo de su vida.

De acuerdo con los deseos de Emma, se optó por la cremación. La Funeraria Calumet Park de Merrillville se encargó de los preparativos de la cremación.
