Kevin Spires, age 65, passed away peacefully at home in Aurora, IL on July 5, 2025.
Kevin was born in Gary, IN and raised in Merrillville, IN, the son of Jack and Louise Spires, who preceded him in death. He built a fulfilling life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. For 36 years, Kevin worked in sales with PCI/Quikrete, where he was known for his dedication and reliability.
Kevin was a man of quiet strength, dependable to the core, and deeply caring. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife Suzanna of 32 years, who preceded him in death, and a loving father to his son, Alex. He was also preceded in death by his brother Patrick, and is survived by his son, Alex, and his brother, Bruce.
Kevin had a special way of finding joy in the everyday. He loved golf, classic cars, the Weather Channel, morning coffee, and what he fondly called his “fat man walks.” The beach was his place of peace, church his place of grounding, and sweets his simple pleasure. He lived by the words he often said: “Life’s too short.” It was more than a motto — it was how he approached life, love, and each day he was given.
Those who knew Kevin will remember his warmth, humor, and unwavering presence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the quiet strength of a life well-lived.

Having worked with Kevin for most of those 36 years, I always appreciated his professionalism to his work, his zest for life and his ever present sense of humor- he treated everyone with respect and always available to help me when i had questions….. Always enjoyed the times we would be able to relax over a beer or 2 after work when we had time and know this is a huge loss to everyone who knew Kevin
Such a shock …. it always seems the good in life get taken way too early and this is so very true with losing Kevin… R.I.P., my good friend!
Alex, my prayers are with you and family. May the Lord comfort you like only He can. My heart goes out to you! ❤️ 🙏 🤲
I was witness to those daily fat man walks. That makes me smile. I will remember his laugh and his love for you, Alex. We enjoyed sitting in the driveway being fancy and drinking beer. Please let us know how to help you.-the Owen family
Alex,
We are so sorry for your loss. We will miss seeing your dad in the neighborhood, just like we still miss your mom sharing her joy.
If we can help you in any way, please let us know.
Kevin hired me 25 years ago so I have known him for half my life, he was a straight shooter and he definitely kept you on your toes. He taught me to be on time which meant way earlier than that. When we weren’t working Kevin loved to talk about his son Alex who he was very proud of and his late wife Sue who he loved very much. I have a lot of good memories of Kevin that will stay with me and over the years appreciated him and besides my boss was someone I consider a good friend, he will definitely be missed!
