Delores (Dee) V. Miller, age 89, of Demotte, IN, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Dee was born on June 27, 1936, to Francis F. Martin and Hazel Fox Martin in Van Wert, Ohio. She graduated from Van Wert High School in 1954. She worked for 2 years for the Borden Cheese Company, then attended Bowling Green State University for two years, completing the Cadet Teaching Program. She taught one year at Convoy-Union Elementary, and then on June 6, 1959, she married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Miller. They started their new life in Hammond, Indiana, where Dee did substitute teaching until starting their family. Dee was a devoted and loving mother to her 4 children, Ben, Diane, Jim and Mike.
Dee was a master at making homemade pies and everyone had their favorite, mostly Strawberry Rhubarb. Birthdays were always special, knowing that she would be making her homemade chocolate birthday cake with her secret frosting recipe. Spending time together and enjoying life was always a priority. Many memories have been made around the dining room table playing games, eating and laughing.
Through 65 years of marriage, Kenneth and Dee shared a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. From Highland to Hebron to their peaceful retirement in Demotte, and sunny days as “Snowbirds” in Apache Junction, Arizona—they built memories through hiking, hosting loved ones, traveling, and square-dancing hand in hand. Their devotion extended to over 50 years of service at Hebron United Methodist Church, where their faith and friendship touched many.
Dee was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth, sister Mary Bidlack, brother-in-law, Norman Bidlack, and her grandson Jeremy (Jim) Miller.
Dee is survived by her children Benjamin Miller, Diane (Greg) Stalbaum, James Miller, and Michael (Ana) Miller, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In her final year, Dee lived with Mike and Ana, surrounded by love and laughter. She passed peacefully in their home, leaving behind sweet memories, quiet grace, and an enduring legacy that will live on in every recipe and tradition she inspired. Dee will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her love, warmth, and spirit live on in the cherished memories she created for all who knew her.
Services will be held at Hebron United Methodist Church at a future date, and she will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with family.
