Kenneth Earl Maddox, 86, of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born on October 10, 1938, in Dover, KY, to the late Ray C. and Edith P. (Griggs) Maddox.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Kristina (Christopher) Vogel, Kara (Brian) Novak, Kimberly Fick, Keith (Jen) Maddox, and Kendol (Lisa) Maddox; grandchildren, Kailynn Curtis, Brienne Curtis, Jillian Maddox, Samantha Roper, Krystal Maddox, Kendol Maddox Jr., Scott Maddox, and Jackie Throw; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; siblings, Ricky Maddox, Sheila Nolan, Brenda Vaught, Linda Jones, and Sonja Vincent; beloved church family of Hammond New Harvest Church; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his adored wife, Patti Lou (Crick) Maddox; beloved brother and “BFF”, whom he couldn’t wait to be reunited with, Donald Maddox; sister, Joann Hilburn; son-in-law, Bill Fick; and daughter-in-law, Gloriann Maddox.
Kenneth worked for Fewer Boiler Repair in Chicago, IL as a boilermaker for over 30 years until his retirement in 1998. He was also a devoted member of Hammond New Harvest Church for over 20 years, involving himself in various activities such as the food pantry and running the Apostles Feet Ministry with his wife, Patti, until her passing.
In his spare time, Kenneth enjoyed taking rides on his Goldwing motorcycle out in the country, visiting Tennessee and the mountains, tending to his yard, remodeling homes when need be, and retiring to the living room to watch classic Western movies while snacking on his beloved Cheeto Puffs. Most importantly, family was everything to Kenneth and he adored being able to spend time with each of his kids, grandkids, and other family members throughout his life.
Kenneth will best be remembered for his wit and charisma, along with being a kind, loving, and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his long life.
In accordance with Kenneth’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and his remains will be interred at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery, where he will be reunited with his wife, Patti. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with Kenneth’s final arrangements.
